After leaving the Pelicans and Ducks, I continued along the gravel road towards the Bison Enclosure. It is a fairly long drive, so I just sit back and enjoy it.
On the way in, I completely missed photo opportunities for 2 Black Bears, that dashed into the bush before I could get my camera ready to snap pictures. The next critter was an Elk, which is a seldom seen critter as they manage to stay deep in the woods and or in pastures far from roads most of the time. She wasn’t in the mood to hang around for pictures either, but I did manage one that is recognizable as she dashed away.
Just inside the Bison enclosure, I found a couple of trees full of Crows . When I was on my vacation in Kruger National Park I came upon many Vulture Trees, so it seems fitting that in Canada we have Crow Trees.
Too many Bison pictures to put up individually, but you can click on one and scroll through each group to see larger pictures of these beasts!
The 3 big boys in almost the same spot I had found them yesterday.
Most of the Bison herd – ending up with the 3 big guys again.
The 2 Moms and their babies – including one that I think is a baby from last year, still following behind Mom.
By then I was very hungry. It was about 11 am and I normally eat breakfast early in the morning. There is no place to eat in the park at 5am. I headed for Wasagaming and was happy to see that the Whitehouse Bakery was open. I ate a huge breakfast and decided to walk some of it off on the Marsh Walk.
Walking back to the restaurant to get my car and head for home, I stopped to take a picture of the construction going on at the old Subway Restaurant. There is also construction on the main street, but I didn’t take any pictures of that. I didn’t actually see anything happening there, but the street has been dug up for sewer work and blocked off to traffic.
The drive home was uneventful, but my time here was filled with amazing sightings!
I’ll be back!
Great post! Love the photos!
