It has been about 2 months since I arrived at my new home in British Columbia. I did quite a bit of exploring, walking and taking photos, but suddenly it was time to start getting things done to finalize my move.
I have to get my driver’s license changed from a Manitoba License to a British Columbia license along with my vehicle registration. In Manitoba those are both done at the same place, but in BC, they are in different places. The driver’s license slowed things down right away as I found out that I had to produce my marriage certificate. I haven’t been married for many years, but I did keep my married name, so I needed it to show that I was the same person as on my birth certificate. I had to place an order to get my marriage certificate from Vital Statistics in Winnipeg and then wait to have it delivered.
I got that done and went back to the driver licensing location and I was issued a temporary paper certificate, and handed in my MB license. I will have to wait a couple of weeks for the actual license to arrive. I found out afterwards that I should have also applied for my BC health card at the same time and they could have used the same photo they took for my driver license for the health card. I also have to remember to take my marriage certificate with me when I go back to get my photo for the health card.
I can get the car registration and insurance at the BCAA office. I have been a Manitoba CAA member for many years and will be able to transfer that membership over to BC without any problems. I will certainly remember to take the marriage certificate with me when I do that this week.
I felt I needed to take a quick visit to Sardis Park/Pond so I could spend some time in nature after all the running around and so I would have photos to show you.
Ducks and a turtle. Although this is the first turtle I’ve found here in awhile, I did read that someone said there were lots of them a couple of weeks ago. I was happy to see one.
A few years ago, a friend asked if she could paint a picture using a photo I had taken of one of the Grey Wolves at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. I said she certainly could. This is a photo of that painting. It is absolutely gorgeous. I took this photo of it because she sent it to me and I received it yesterday.
