We’ve been having some pretty chilly days lately with temperatures close to -30C and with wind chill values well into the -30’s. This morning it was a balmy -24C with the wind chills still in the -20’s, very little wind and bright sunny skies. So, I headed over to Fort Whyte Alive for a walk. By the time I returned home, it was a balmy -17C with a wind chill value of -22C.
It was a little over a year ago (Dec 15, 2020) when I slipped and fell at Fort Whyte Alive and broke my shoulder. This time the trails were clear of any ice and although I did have the spikes on my shoes that I wear all winter when I walk, I really didn’t need them this time.
I’ll start my photos with the Bald Eagle nest. With no leaves on the trees, it is easy to see the nest now.
Not zoomed in much – but can you see the nest?Zoomed in more – now can you see it?If you didn’t see the nest in the other 2 photos – here it is zoomed in a bit moreSnow covered pathsThere is a bench up ahead if you want to sit downA couple of White-tailed Deer just off the pathThis one looks over at meThen she winked at me. 🙂I continued walking and found another deer —>I think she is watching meI love the snow on her head. The White-tailed Deer are sure gorgeous! Just look at those eyes!I don’t like the snow, but it is prettyAnd here’s another dearUp ahead is the Bison viewing mound, but that trail hasn’t been cleaned, so I’ll walk around it this time. Some people have climbed it – but I’m not going up there. There were quite a few deer tracks along here, but I’ve never seen a deer near this area.I’ve never stopped to look at this sign before. Finally a bird stopped to pose for a photo. Hello little Black-capped Chickadee!
My little Toyota has a much smaller gas tank than my old Chev did and I realized on the way home that I should have filled it up before going anywhere. But I had enough to get to a gas station and now it is filled again.
