A Stroll Around Assiniboine Park

After a big Saturday morning breakfast, I decided to head over to Assiniboine Park to see what I could see. I started out at the English Gardens to check on the hole in the tree that had been made by the Pileated Woodpecker earlier in the spring. Last time I checked on it, I couldn’t see if anything was using the hole or not. This morning, I was devastated to find out that the tree was gone. I noticed that a few dead trees had been taken down and only piles of wood chips and sawdust remained for each one. I have no idea if they checked the hole and made sure the family wasn’t in there or not, and I didn’t see the woodpeckers anywhere. 😦

I wandered over to the duck pond and found a few willing subjects for my photos.

After the duck pond, I headed into the woods nearby – still in the park. Luckily, I found a few more willing subjects.

I managed to find a couple of dogs willing to let me pet them during my walk. Actually, it was the owner of one of the dogs that mentioned that there were a couple of deer just ahead – so I was ready for them when I rounded the next corner.
