Morning Stroll at Fort Whyte Alive

Living in the middle of a city, I have found that I need to spend time in nature as often as I can. Listening to critter sounds is what I need, instead of traffic or people yelling or sirens. I like to just stroll along casually, listening to or watching the birds and any other critters I might find.

First up was a Wood Duck and a bunch of ducklings. 🙂

I was surprised that these were the only ducklings I saw today.

Of course, I had to stop at this little pond. It is so nice to see it full of water again after being dry for the last few years.

I stayed longer than usual at this pond today. There was a group of about 10 women who were walking and talking and laughing. They were having fun, but the quiet I am used to (and love) was gone. They passed me a few times today and I always waited until I couldn’t hear them before continuing – but then I would catch up to them while they stopped and chatted without moving. They were very friendly and always said hello to me – but their reason for being there was entirely different than my reason.
