This my first Spring in British Columbia and it has been very spring-like since December. I love this weather, but it is so hard to get used to seeing green grass in January along with the arrival of the migrating ducks and geese. Actually a good number of ducks and geese did not even head… Continue reading The Return of Some Birds

A Little Walk on a Cloudy Morning
Yesterday I received a letter from BCAA telling me that my payment had not gone through on my credit card on file and my membership would be cancelled if not rectified. About a week earlier, I had phoned them to renew this membership and was told that it had already been renewed. So, since I… Continue reading A Little Walk on a Cloudy Morning
Sunny Morning at Chem Lake Wetlands
We have had a few cloudy and/or rainy days lately, and when I saw the forecast was for sunshine I decided to head out to Chem Lake Wetlands for my walk. It was so beautiful in the sun! A Couple of views from the still frozen lake. The sun hadn’t made it past the mountains… Continue reading Sunny Morning at Chem Lake Wetlands
Back to Fairfield Island
Although rain was in the forecast, I decided that I needed a good walk, so I headed back to Fairfield Island with my camera. The sky was partly cloudy, but the sun did make its way out to brighten things up. He quickly brought his wing in and looked very majestic instantly.
A Happy New Year Walk
January 1st wasn’t great for walking, so I took a long walk on January 2nd. My first stop was the Sardis Park/Pond in Chilliwack. This is one of my favourite places to walk – but I have to admit that all the walking spots I’ve found so far are all my favourites – LOL. When… Continue reading A Happy New Year Walk
Life in Chilliwack
Many of you know that I lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada for my entire life, until last July, when I moved to Chilliwack in British Columbia – still in Canada. Winnipeg is often called Winterpeg for good reason. It would not be winter without the -40 C and below temperatures. Add the blustery winds to… Continue reading Life in Chilliwack
Fairfield Island
My friend Karen – who used to live in Chilliwack gave me directions to Fairfield Island for a place to walk. So, today the sun was shining and I decided it would be a good day to check it out. To get there I had to drive on a road over the Hope River Bridge… Continue reading Fairfield Island
Chem Lake Wetlands Walk
It was a beautiful morning today, so I thought a return visit to the Chem Lake Wetlands would be a good way to spend some time. I thought about taking my pair of shoes that has spikes in case it was slippery there, but instead decided that since the ice & snow are disappearing quickly,… Continue reading Chem Lake Wetlands Walk
Visitor Outside My Window & Another Walk
I had no idea that I would be seeing a Hummingbird at the end of November – but it seems the Anna’s Hummingbird actually stays here all winter. Until this year, I have always lived in Winnipeg (aka Winterpeg). In July of this year, I moved west to Chilliwack, British Columbia and I knew winters… Continue reading Visitor Outside My Window & Another Walk
A Walk at Chem Lake Wetlands
It was time for a new place to walk and explore. I knew that near the Bridal Falls, there was also a provincial park that I had been at a few years ago when I was visiting my daughter. I was kind of heading for that park, but must have missed a turn and then… Continue reading A Walk at Chem Lake Wetlands
