It was such a beautiful morning yesterday, so I headed back to Fort Whyte Alive to walk after the snow had melted. The wind died down, the sky was blue and the temperature was back above 0C. Actually, it was about 10C and absolutely perfect for walking. Happy Easter!

Fort Whyte Alive after a Fresh Snow
This morning I decided to head over to Fort Whyte Alive and so that is what I did and arrived a few minutes after they opened at 9:00 am. I stopped on the road as I was driving in to get a photo of some of the Canada Geese and Sea Gulls at the edge… Continue reading Fort Whyte Alive after a Fresh Snow
Wandering Around
This morning I decided to take a return drive to Lockport to see how the river looked there, as well as seeing what birds and/or critters I could find. Of course, I always like watching the water flowing through the locks as well. I headed back to the car and started driving – ending up… Continue reading Wandering Around
Assiniboine Park and Zoo
Many years ago – when I was a child – one of the highlights of going to the zoo was for an exhibit called Aunt Sally’s Farm. Back then the zoo was free to visit. When I say many years ago, it really was. I just had my 70th birthday today and I haven’t been… Continue reading Assiniboine Park and Zoo
A Springtime walk around Fort Whyte Alive
This morning I decided to head over to Fort Whyte Alive for my walk. I phoned ahead to find out if the paths were still icy and they advised me that some spots were, but much has melted. I decided to put my spikes on just to be careful. It turned out that the spikes… Continue reading A Springtime walk around Fort Whyte Alive
Walking around at Lockport
There was absolutely nothing written in my calendar for today – so I decided to head out to Lockport to look for birds and see how the ice on the river was there. There was actually more ice than I thought there would be – closer to the locks as well. Then I noticed a… Continue reading Walking around at Lockport
Fort Whyte Alive this Morning
Due to Covid, we are back in a lockdown here again, with many businesses closed or with reduced hours and/or customers. I know the Assiniboine Park Zoo is closed, but was delighted to find out that Fort Whyte Alive is open. The hours are the same, but they were in the process of setting up… Continue reading Fort Whyte Alive this Morning
A Walk in the Snow
With the temperature hovering around 0C, I decided to head over to Fort Whyte Alive where I could walk. There is still snow on the ground, which arrived a few days ago. The forecast says the temperature will be up around 10C in a few days – but I’m not holding my breath. The water… Continue reading A Walk in the Snow
A Stroll in Assiniboine Park
The temperature wasn’t much over 0C this morning, but the sun was shining and I grabbed my camera and headed out. Now that I am back in my apartment, the temperature is at 13C – so not bad, and the sun helps too. As I strolled along an asphalt path in the woods along the… Continue reading A Stroll in Assiniboine Park
A Chilly Fall Morning at Fort Whyte Alive
It was 2C this morning when I headed over to Fort White Alive after my breakfast at the Red Top Restaurant. It started off cloudy, but after awhile, I saw the sun trying to get out from behind the clouds and soon afterwards, the clouds pretty much disappeared. 🙂 After the sun made an appearance,… Continue reading A Chilly Fall Morning at Fort Whyte Alive
