Assiniboine Park – part 2
After leaving the Gardens in Assiniboine Park, I headed over to visit the zoo. Some of the critters were very cooperative in providing a few photos for me to show you. Now, it was time to get out of the sun & heat, and to head for home.
Back to the Zoo
Things are very slowly starting to return to normal. The big thing (for me) is that the Assiniboine Park Zoo has opened. Normally, I volunteer there about 3-4 times a week, and I have really missed it. The zoo opened to the public on Wednesday May 13th, but on Tuesday the 12th, we had a… Continue reading Back to the Zoo
Keeping Safe
Covid-19 is not the first pandemic that has threatened this world – but it is the current one. There was no internet for the other big ones though, and this has been a method of spreading the information (both true and untrue information) quickly for this pandemic. So – how are you doing? I have… Continue reading Keeping Safe
Looking for an Owl
After walking the dogs this morning, I headed to the English Garden beside the Zoo at Assiniboine Park. Several people have been seeing a Barred Owl there and I wanted to see and photograph it also. I couldn’t find him though – even with the help of a friend who had seen him more than… Continue reading Looking for an Owl
Bears will be Bears
The Polar Bears at the Assiniboine Park Zoo were having lots of fun yesterday. The 2 main participants in this wrestling match are Storm and York and then Willow makes an appearance at the end as she very slowly slid down the hill towards them. I could have stayed and watched them much longer, but… Continue reading Bears will be Bears
Assiniboine Park Zoo in the Winter
There is a lot of good views of the critters in the Assiniboine Park Zoo in the winter. Most of the animals live in the climate that we have here and get much more active in the winter than in the summer, when they would rather find a shady place to sleep. I went there… Continue reading Assiniboine Park Zoo in the Winter
House/pet sitting x 2
Just for something different, I ended up with 2 pet sitting opportunities at the same time. One included house sitting, along with the pets (big Toby and his buddy, pretty little Mocha) and the other was coming and going twice a day to spend some time with beautiful Finnegan. The first couple of days, it… Continue reading House/pet sitting x 2
Spring is on the Way
Yes, Christmas is on the way too – but spring WILL be here sometime in the next couple of months. In the meantime, I will be moving at the end of March and have been packing in advance. The first 2 weeks in March I will be bird and house sitting, so I won’t get… Continue reading Spring is on the Way
It is Officially COLD here
Five years ago when I wrote the stories about driving to Texas to get away from the cold temperatures here, it wasn’t even as cold as it is now. I thought the -23C with a windchill of -30C was cold though. This year at about the same time, we have been getting several extreme cold… Continue reading It is Officially COLD here
