Winter Visit to the Cedar Bog Trail

It has been almost 4 months since I’ve walked the Cedar Bog Trail in Birds Hill Provincial Park. Yesterday was a beautiful day, but last night, the snow and winds returned along with dropping temperatures. I’m happy that I got my walk in when the weather was good. This trail has spots where there is… Continue reading Winter Visit to the Cedar Bog Trail

Taking Advantage of an Unusually Mild November Day

Occasionally we have some above 0C temperatures in November, but usually by now, the days are mostly below 0C. So, with a predicted high of plus 9, I knew I would be out walking a trail or 2 in Bird’s Hill Provincial Park. The next 2 days are predicted to be even a little bit… Continue reading Taking Advantage of an Unusually Mild November Day

Last Stop of the Day – at Bunn’s Creek

Heading home after the morning in Bird’s Hill Provincial Park, I decided that since I would be very close to Bunn’s Creek, I might as well make one more stop of the day for my last stroll. The only bird who stopped to pose for me, was this beautiful Blue Jay – and I had… Continue reading Last Stop of the Day – at Bunn’s Creek

Lakeview Trail and Bur Oak Trail at Birds Hill Provincial Park

I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go after walking the Chickadee trail, but as I approached the overlook parking lot, I turned in. It has been awhile since I stopped there. This time I actually looked at the map and realized that the lakes and marsh (where I got lost last year) are directly… Continue reading Lakeview Trail and Bur Oak Trail at Birds Hill Provincial Park

Chickadee Trail at Birds Hill Provincial Park

I always seem to keep repeating the same trails every time I go to Birds Hill Provincial Park, but this morning I decided in advance that it is time I tried the Chickadee Trail. I was at the entrance to the trail a few years ago when a good friend (Judy) brought me out there… Continue reading Chickadee Trail at Birds Hill Provincial Park

Lakeview Trail

My last walk of the day was the Lakeview Trail – around the lakes in Birds Hill Provincial Park (the place where I was completely lost last winter). It is so much easier to walk on the paths instead of wading through hip deep snow while not knowing where the path actually was. I don’t… Continue reading Lakeview Trail

Cedar Bog Trail

After breakfast yesterday I drove over to the Cedar Bog trail for a little longer walk than I had at Prairie Winds trail. The temperature was warmer for this walk than the earlier one. That ended this trail and tomorrow we will continue with my 3rd walk.

Prairie Winds Trail followed by Pine Ridge Hollow

After my last maintenance problem with my car, I haven’t driven on the highway since – until today. I didn’t go too far, but have been wanting to get back to Bird’s Hill Provincial Park and that is where I went. It is only about 13 km on the highway. My first walk of the… Continue reading Prairie Winds Trail followed by Pine Ridge Hollow

A Morning Stroll along Cedar Bog Trail

It was a chilly morning (for August) when I decided to head north to Birds Hill Provincial Park where I could walk on the Cedar Bog Trail. It seems like its been awhile since I’ve been out there, but especially since I’ve walked this trail. Rain wasn’t in the forecast, but there were some very… Continue reading A Morning Stroll along Cedar Bog Trail

A Couple of Walks in Bird’s Hill Provincial Park – part 2

The walk back to the car along the 2 trails was a nice walk again, but the birds and critters kept themselves hidden. I then drove over to the West Beach Parking lot and began walking the trail that goes around the lakes. This time, I walked the beach area first and then up and… Continue reading A Couple of Walks in Bird’s Hill Provincial Park – part 2
