Day 2 at Riding Mountain National Park

I had decided I wasn’t going to set an alarm to get up and get out for the sunrises this trip – but amazingly enough, I work up early anyway. So – I headed out while it was still dark. I was greeted by the beautiful moon as soon as I went outside. It was… Continue reading Day 2 at Riding Mountain National Park

Back to RMNP – part 5

On my way towards the Bison enclosure I found – not 1, but 2 Coyotes. The first one was very shy and my only photo of him or her was behind the bushes. The second one ha no problem posing for photos. I took several, but will only show a couple of them. They were… Continue reading Back to RMNP – part 5

My First trip to Beaudry Provincial Park

Until recently, I had not known about Beaudry Provincial Park. It is certainly the closest provincial park to the city, but isn’t well advertised. I had lived more in the eastern areas of Winnipeg and Beaudry is just to the west. It was a cloudy morning with a possibility of rain according to the forecast,… Continue reading My First trip to Beaudry Provincial Park

Back to Bird’s Hill Provincial Park – part 3

It was a short drive from the beach parking lot to the next parking lot, so I was soon walking along the Cedar Bog trail. The snow was pretty much gone, so other than some muddy spots – walking was good. 🙂 I could hear Chickadees, but they were not showing themselves to me –… Continue reading Back to Bird’s Hill Provincial Park – part 3

Back to Bird’s Hill Provincial Park – part 2

After returning to my car, I headed on towards the West Beach to wander a bit along the beaches. Now that the snow is pretty much gone, I found out that there are paved walkways everywhere. If those walkways had been plowed, it would have been very easy to have found my way back to… Continue reading Back to Bird’s Hill Provincial Park – part 2

Back to Bird’s Hill Provincial Park

It has been over a month since my last slippery visit to the trails at Bird’s Hill Provincial Park. The trails weren’t very good with a lot of ice then, but they are much better now. Some spots are very wet and muddy though and some of the recent snow is still evident, but I… Continue reading Back to Bird’s Hill Provincial Park

Geese, Ducks and More

It was such a beautiful morning yesterday, so I headed back to Fort Whyte Alive to walk after the snow had melted. The wind died down, the sky was blue and the temperature was back above 0C. Actually, it was about 10C and absolutely perfect for walking. Happy Easter!

Looking for Bald Eagles

Now that I know the location of a Bald Eagle nest, I decided to return for better photos. I don’t think I mentioned in the last post that the reason I didn’t zoom in more was because the batteries were pretty much exhausted and the camera would shut down if the zoom was used. It… Continue reading Looking for Bald Eagles

Fort Whyte Alive after a Fresh Snow

This morning I decided to head over to Fort Whyte Alive and so that is what I did and arrived a few minutes after they opened at 9:00 am. I stopped on the road as I was driving in to get a photo of some of the Canada Geese and Sea Gulls at the edge… Continue reading Fort Whyte Alive after a Fresh Snow

Last Stop Today – Bird’s Hill Provincial Park

My car ended up taking me east again and when we reached Highway 59, we turned south to head back in the direction of home. But, when we got to Bird’s Hill Provincial Park we turned in there. I hadn’t been to the Cedar Bog trail since my “lost in Bird’s Hill Park day”, so… Continue reading Last Stop Today – Bird’s Hill Provincial Park
